At ARAD, our programs are designed to provide a foundation for long-term abstinence from substance misuse. Because of this, the treatment and recovery process is gradual, making recovery real and accessible, not something that happens as soon as you walk in our doors.
Every resident who walks in our doors will have a different set of needs, which is why our treatment plans are individualized and created in collaboration with each resident. While you’re here, we’ll work with you to give you the best chance to grow, heal and find ways to avoid substance misuse going forward.
While everyone’s stay is different, here’s a glance at what your time with us will include:
When you first arrive at our facility, you’ll be greeted by our counseling staff and breathalyzed. Because we’re not a detox facility, residents who test positive for alcohol will be escorted to a medical facility for clearance prior to admission. Our team will also ask you to submit to urinalysis for drug testing. Some drugs stay in the system for several days, so positive results will not automatically delay admission, provided that you’re not currently under the influence or deemed at risk of withdrawal symptoms. During this initial meeting, we’ll also take your photo and help you complete initial paperwork, then you’ll be assigned a room and a time to meet with your counseling team.
After you’re checked in, we’ll assign you a resident guide and give you a schedule and tour of the facility. Once your tour is complete, you may begin engaging in group activities.
Your counseling team will help create a treatment program for your needs and preferences, using up-to-the-minute research and evidence-based best practices to help you find real recovery. While meeting with your counseling team, you’ll discuss your physical and mental health, history of substance use and misuse and family history, in order to ensure we’re providing the best possible treatment.
Your treatment plan will likely include a variety of topics and strategies, but the core of our treatment activities are:
Outside of your treatment plan, we offer a variety of ways to ensure that your stay with us is memorable and enjoyable. One of our favorite parts of the facility is the food. Awards and recognition follow our head chef, Rocky Dunnam, everywhere he goes, a testament to his exceptional culinary skills and abundant talent. He won the Restaurant Roundup Battle of the Area Chefs 2015 and received the Amarillo Convention and Visitor Council Prime Service Award 2015. In the summer of 2015, Chef Rocky even competed on an episode of Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen,” proudly representing our area. His culinary creations are absolutely delectable, and we’re confident you’ll enjoy mealtime during your stay. In addition, we offer a variety of social and recreational activities to encourage healthy friendships and relaxation during your stay.
Once your treatment with us is complete, we offer ongoing support for alumni, and our team can help you find long-term support groups to bolster your recovery.
